The Process

How a
Commission Works

The inquiry is intentionally simple. The working details are agreed together before the piece begins.

01

Share the Idea

Tell Alfredo who or what the piece is about, why it matters, and what you imagine. Reference images are welcome but not required for the first note.

Context first — polish can come later
02

Creative Fit + Direction

Alfredo reviews the request, asks any useful questions, and confirms whether the idea is a natural fit for his visual language.

An honest conversation before a commitment
03

Scope in Writing

Format, timing, quote, delivery method, and any review points are written down so both sides know what the project includes.

Clear expectations before work begins
04

Create + Handoff

Alfredo creates the work through the agreed process. The finished piece is delivered using the format and method confirmed in the scope.

Common Questions

Before You Request

How realistic will the portrait be? +

Alfredo Paints is expressive art, not photo-realistic. The style is character-driven, colorful, and interpreted — not a digital trace. Reference photos help capture likeness, but the output will carry the AG visual language. If you've looked at the archive and you like the style, you're in the right place.

Will I see the direction before the final? +

Any review points are agreed during scoping and written down before work begins. The exact process can change with the format and complexity of the piece.

What photos should I send? +

Clear, well-lit photos that show the subject’s face, expression, and personality are most useful. Multiple angles help. Alfredo can ask for specific references after reviewing the first note.

Do you do commercial or brand commissions? +

Sometimes. Brand commissions are evaluated case by case — it depends on the project and whether it's a natural fit with the archive. Inquire with details and AG will respond honestly about whether it's a right fit.

How are timing and price set? +

They depend on the subject, complexity, format, delivery needs, and Alfredo’s availability. Both are confirmed in writing before the work begins.
